lol Ya it is supposed to be. But what do they say about tornadoes?

I have driven in a lot of stuff as well, blinding snow storms, check, tornado warnings, check, flash flood warnings, check, but not typhoons or hurricanes. (Never made it to the coast)

I have to say I have no relatives in the affected area, but I do feel so sorry for those who have lost so much. I have experienced both tornado and hurricane, both are frightening in their own ways. Of the 2 I still have nightmares abvout the tornado and
that happened in 1953; so I guess in my case that had to be the worst.

Glad that you don't have any relatives in the area RR. It is tough for those that lost a lot and all we can do is keep them in our thoughts.

So first day of work for the summer, back at my good old summer janitor position for the last summer. First day, running on four hours of sleep, I get to do gym rafters in 95F heat. Awesome. Plus I end up working 9 hours, instead of 8 hours. >< First day and I already worked freaking overtime.

well look at it this way....if you get paid for overtime its money you can have for later!

sushi night, tried a new restaurant--good food, service bad--they forgot half of our order
oh well....more work to do tomorrow....

I don't get paid overtime. So they are tacking the extra time onto this coming Thursday since I am leaving work 2 hours early. So I guess that makes it better. But still, working overtime on my first freaking day? Slightly annoying.

I hate bad service. I know sometimes they get busy but it shouldn't be that hard to remember 2 people's order. That is why they write it down. Duh.

it WAS written down--on the sushi form you fill out (we ordered a bunch of rolls and some single pieces)...

oh, ouch---well at least you will get some cash out of that overtime---my hubby is salaried which means no matter how many hours he works he gets the same paycheck (and his usual work week is about 50 or so).

horrible headache today--might just take some advil and call this day off---

Well now I want sushi. Damnit, cosy

Blah, I wish I got paid extra for holidays (no overtime at all, because they flip the hell out if you go over 40 hours, unless you're salaried, in which case you HAVE to work 44 hours per week). Better would be not working holidays at all, of course

I hate summer, it is too hot out. I am very glad right now that last week I went and cut my hair very short, sure makes dealing with the heat easier, especially since I get very sick from the heat very fast.

That is how my paycheck will be once I start teaching in the fall. I will be salary so I can spend 9-10 hours at school each day and I won't get anymore money. Oh well. I will make a LOT more money teaching than I would staying at this stupid janitor position. Which isn't saying much since I only make $9.17 an hour doing the janitor stuff. lol

I like summer, expect when you lose power. Randomly lost power yesterday for 5+ hours. On the hottest day yet. Yay for sweltering inside the house. Dad and I went to the range just so we can be in the air conditioned car for an hour. And it was random because there wasn't strong winds or storms in the area. Just all of a sudden lost power.

Oh, we don't have air conditioning. Our house is too old, so the best we can do is a few window air conditioners on the first floor that don't really do much because the place is so drafty.

I am searching for a new job right now, I'm so burnt out on retail that I've reached that point of simply not caring. And I generally like my job. The bank across the street from my store is hiring and everyone there knows me, I think I'm going to apply. Bank teller = more pay, less work, sitting down the entire time, more or less regular hours, and not having to work every Sunday and holiday. Sounds like an effing dream right now.

job??? what's that???
no jobs here---

(since when do tellers sit????--none of the banks I go to or worked at have chairs for them, MOST of them have to deal with the drive up window as well as the lobby---and I know of a few banks open on sundays.....)

a/c MUST have with all the computers we have ---and yep we get the random power outages--last year we had like 5, one for many hours--it was a nice day (70's) no wind, no rain, no --power...couldnt figure it out for the life of us why that day was without power.
(got a new ups since the last one the battery just wouldnt recharge--not good for a battery backup! and summer on the way)

I've been going to this bank for a decade, both personally and for work, I know it well The driveup is actually in a separate building across the street from the main branch building.

Weird that they let them sit. But hey, if they do that is great for you lol

A/C is a wonderful invention. While I could survive without it, I definitely prefer it lol

the house I grew up in barely had it (and it didnt work in my bedroom)...none at college or the 1st apartment we had.....only a big ole box fan (which died last year--we tried to fix it, but think the barrings went flat )

and now being on the 3rd floor---even when its only in the 70's outside the temp in here goes into the 90's---and no real way to cross ventilate with only windows on one side and our balcony on an adjoining side (and the windows are on the north--no breeze from them)...so its a/c or you die

I didn't have central air in my first college dorm, had to settle for a window unit. Which worked just fine, since I was in the basement of the dorm lol That is another reason I enjoy my room at home. It is on the lower level unlike my old room which was on the top floor. Much cooler down here even with more things running.

1st??? one of your dorms had a/c???? none of ours did--and yeah, rock island was pretty dang hot (one of the years we had close to record highs)...I think a few of the buildings had it, but not the dorms.

My first apartment after rock island was in boise idaho--the summers get into the low 100's, but NO humidity, so I only used the a/c there once (and my neighbor complained because it made the stuff on her wall jiggle! --I only used it because I had a baaad virus and needed to get cool----we moved not to long afterwards and the next place had a window a/c in the front/living room--useless for sleeping).

man I remember those times....and am glad I have a/c now.
Living in japan my one room had a/c but it was expensive to use (and the schools didnt--and yeah we went to school from april til july, and again starting around labor day-----the HOTEST time in japan with no a/c unless you ran into one of the department stores who had the a/c set at like 60).

My next two did. The last one I was in let me control air or heat which was awesome. I like to sleep when its cold, even in the middle of winter. Rarely used my heat in the winter but used my air a lot in the spring and fall. oO

Ya humidity is what is killer around here, as you know cosy. It can be 80 degrees outside but feel even hotter thanks to humidity. Not cool.

a/c in a dorm...that would have been nice....

another annoying day....our post office changed our postal carriers, so our new one delivers at a different time than our old ones---they used to deliver before noon, the new one came today a 4:50pm! I was waiting for a package and then I had some stuff I had to do--well seeing as he was sooo late I never got out to get my errands run
No idea WHY they changed our carriers--I finally had the last one broken in!

/sigh
another busy day tomorrow since I didnt get stuff done today.

I loved having a/c in the dorm, that is for sure lol

Sorry they changed the carrier on you again cosy.

Well work again today, 5 am. Up in the gym rafters for another 8 hours. On a 94 degree day. In a non-air conditioned school. Guess I need to drink tons of water...
